HUNG SELECTED WORKS |
HUNG was born in Kunming, China and growing up in Hong Kong when he was 3 years old in 1973. He completed his Design study at School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1992 and finished his BA (Hons) at the Department of Fine Arts, Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1995. He obtained his Master Degree in film and video from the Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design, London, UK in 1997. In 1998, his short film "I Love My Country's Sky” won both the "Best Short Film Award" at the prestigious BBC Short Film Festival in the UK and the "Best of the EMAF Award" at the European Media Arts Festival in Germany. HUNG's short film, video and interactive project have been widely exhibited internationally such as: The Third Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art and the Festival Multimedia Art Asia Pacific Festival, Australia (99), The PUSAN International Contemporary Art Festival (PICAF), South Korea (00), Kwangju Biennial, South Korea (01), "hot pot" Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Art, Norway (01), Hong Kong Art Biennale (01), Image Forum, Japan (01), Shanghai Biannual (04), The Wall: "Reshaping Contemporary Chinese Art" in Beijing, China and Buffalo, US (05), "City in Progress / Live from Zhang Jian" in Three on the Bund, Shanghai (06), "Reversing Horizons" in Shanghai MOCA (07) and ISEA (08). In 2005, he founded "innov+media lab, hong kong" (imhk lab) mainly focus on integrated design, new media art & research, interactive software development, application and production. He and his research team just own the "Special Mention Award" & "Best of Code Award" in the Hong Kong International Short Film and Video Award & Microwave International New Media Arts Festival in 2006 with their new media research projects. He was a visiting scholar, supervised by Professor Jeffrey Shaw, in (ZKM), Center for Art & Mediatechnologies, in Karlsruhe , Germany (01-02), awarded by DAAD Scholarship. In 2006 with the honorable "Desiree and Hans Michael Jebsen Fellowship" by Asian Cultural Council, as a Research Scholar, Hung has made his first trip to the US for his presentation and research activities, including the Center for New Media at the University of California, Berkeley, (UC Berkeley), Chicago University , Department of Art and Technology Studies, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Pittsburgh University, etc. His commissioned video and interactive art works including Hong Kong Visual Art Center (94), Levis' Shop, BBC Short Film Festival Awards, London (98), The Palace hotel (Beijing huangfu fandian) /Peninsula Beijing (01), MSF-HK10th anniversary <Witnessing: 10 Years of Humanitarian Crises>, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) / Doctors Without Boarders (04), Interactive Show-Sweet, SINO, Hong Kong (06), Interactive Fashion Show, Lining , Hong Kong Fashion Week (06), Style Hong Kong, Beijing, HKTDC (07), HK Young Designer Alumni Club Fashion Party, Beijing, HKTDC (07), Pan PRD Hunan, HKTDC (07) and Style Hong Kong in Moscow, HKTDC (07), etc. He currently received “Award for Outstanding Young Artist” of Hong Kong Arts Development Award 2007 in Hong Kong. |
